Bhel Puri
Bhel Puri is a popular Indian street food that originates from Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is a delightful and tangy snack made with puffed rice, sev (crunchy chickpea flour noodles), chutneys, and an assortment of vegetables. Here's a simple recipe for making Bhel Puri at home:
Ingredients:
2 cups puffed rice
1/2 cup sev (crunchy chickpea flour noodles)
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup boiled and diced potatoes
1/2 cup boiled and sprouted moong beans (optional)
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup chopped fresh coriander leaves
1/4 cup tamarind chutney
1/4 cup mint-coriander chutney (or green chutney)
1/2 tsp chaat masala
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
Salt to taste
Lemon juice, as needed
Sev, chopped coriander leaves, and lemon wedges for garnish
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, add puffed rice, sev, chopped onion, boiled and diced potatoes, boiled and sprouted moong beans (if using), chopped tomatoes, and fresh coriander leaves. Mix well.
Add tamarind chutney and mint-coriander chutney (or green chutney) according to your taste preference. Mix well.
Add chaat masala, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well to coat all the ingredients with the spices.
Squeeze some lemon juice over the Bhel Puri and mix well.
Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
Garnish with more sev, chopped coriander leaves, and lemon wedges.
Serve immediately and enjoy the tangy, crunchy, and delicious Bhel Puri!
Note: You can customize the ingredients and chutneys as per your preference. You can also add other toppings such as roasted peanuts, pomegranate seeds, or nylon sev for extra crunch and flavor.
